The principal aims of the design for the competition area lying on a very significant point on the Bosphorus was to establish a memorable identity and to enable communication with the sea, fitting with the museum’s theme. The form of the sloping blind facade gives a sense of coming out of the sea and blocks sunlight in order to protect the galleys on exhibit.
